By Dr. Nico,
I love liquid herbal extracts and have been using them for over 25 years, they enter your blood stream quickly and get to work immediately. If I was going to be on a deserted island and I could take along only a few things I would want these 3 extracts with me, along with water these liquid herbal extracts would sustain and energize me and also keep my immune system up as I tried to survive like another Robinson Crusoe. Even the late great Bruce Lee took these herbs almost almost daily and there is a new tea coming out called Bruce Tea that has 2 of the 3 herbs in it. You see Bruce Lee used to make his own energizing pre-workout and immune building drink and now it is coming out shortly for everybody to enjoy, I will get back to the new tea in a moment. Listed below are the 3 liquid herbal extracts that you really should know about.
Astragalus
(Astragalus membranaceus)
Part used: Root
Actions: Antitumor, energy tonic, stops sweating
Indications: Although there are about 200 species of astragalus that are native to the United States, most are toxic and it is only Astragalus membranaceus that is used medicinally. A Chinese species of milk vetch (a pea family plant), astragalus has been used for thousands of years in the Orient. Frequently used as an immune system stimulant and as a general tonic herb for the common cold, astragalus is used as a deep immune system tonic, much like echinacea.
Like echinacea, it increases the proliferation and activity of immuno-competent cells. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is often simmered in chicken soup along with other herbs to make a medicinal tonic soup. Astragalus soups are very pleasant-tasting, since astragalus has a mild, slightly sweet flavor. Put a few slices of the root into a pot of soup and simmer for awhile. The longer the soup is simmered, the more benefit from the astragalus. When the soup is done, remove the root slices since they are too tough to eat. This is an excellent way to help family members get through the cold and flu season without getting sick. They won’t even suspect that astragalus has been added to the soup. In Oriental medicine, astragalus root is said to stimulate the Wei Qi or protective energy; roughly what we would call the immunity. Astragalus is also superb as an ingredient in cough syrup.
Astragalus is most commonly sold in thin slices of the dried taproot. Extracts, tinctures and encapsulated astragalus products are also widely available. We sell the liquid extract that gets into your system very fast and also tastes good, it comes 10 bottles to a box and you take first thing in the morning, it is pictured down below.
In one of the most impressive studies done with astragalus, researchers at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston found that astragalus extracts could completely restore the function of compromised immune cells taken from the blood of human cancer patients. This stellar research showed that when damaged immune cells were stimulated by astragalus, they could equal and even surpass the function of cells from healthy humans(I have seen this first hand). Another Chinese study showed that frequency and duration of the common cold could be reduced from 4.6 days to an average of 2.6 days. At the National Cancer Institute, astragalus was found to restore the immune system in 90 percent of cancer patients.
For people who catch colds easily and frequently, have shortness of breath, weak lungs and low energy, this is an excellent herb. A great boon to those who are convalescing, astragalus benefits malnutrition and diarrhea, increases appetite, strengthens digestion, treats exhaustion, helps poorly healing sores and ulcerations.
Astragalus has no known toxicity and can be used to lessen the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation and inhibit the growth of tumors. At the sligthest sensation of a cold or flu coming on I would take this liquid extract and stop the symptoms from getting worse.

Long esteemed in the Orient for its tonic effects, Asian ginseng (Panax Ginseng) is available in both red and white forms. Red ginseng is steamed and dried, making it more stimulating and useful for older people with low energy and weak vitality. One of the biggest misconceptions about Panax Ginseng is that it is a stimulant. IT IS NOT, it is a adaptogenic herb basically balancing the needs of your body.
White ginseng refers to the peeled, dried root of Asian ginseng. The white variety (actually a pale yellow in color) is cooler, often combined with other herbs and more useful for those who need an energy boost. White ginseng benefits the lungs and digestive system.
American ginseng (P. quinquefolius) is a tonic with a long history of Native American use for fevers, headaches, dysentery and as a fertility tonic. It is considered so valuable to the Chinese that literally tons of wild American ginseng have been exported to the Orient annually since colonial times, pushing it to the edge of extinction and leading to its threatened or endangered status in more than half of the 50 states. Because it can fetch up to $600 per pound, the young immature roots of American ginseng continue to be harvested illegally. Buy only ginseng which is woods-grown, not wildcrafted.
Reputed to be a men’s tonic, ginseng is beneficial to both men and women. Christopher Hobbs writes in The Ginsengs that it can improve physical as well as mental performance under stress, improve reaction time, prolong life and combat senility. In China it is used to treat heart disease and cancer. A 1990 study showed that 100 mg of standardized ginseng extract increased immune cells, including T-cell counts. Ginsenosides (saponin compounds in the plant) have been found to stimulate bone marrow production, stimulate the immune system, inhibit tumor growth, stabilize blood pressure, detoxify the liver and balance blood sugar. Although hailed as an aphrodisiac and male virility tonic, research is inconclusive as to whether ginseng has an effect on sex hormones.
Panax ginseng is generally regarded as a safe herb, providing protection against mental physical fatigue, nonspecific resistance to stress and supporting adrenal gland function, because like mentioned above it is a adaptogenic herb.. Perhaps its reputation as a panacea is due to its ability to restore strength, balance and harmony so that the body can heal itself. If you consume lots of caffeine drinks like Red Bull, Monster or to much Starbucks you are depleting your adrenal glands and your adrenal cortex, taking Ginseng and Astragalus will help replenish them.
Pregnant women should avoid ginseng because of its hormonal interactions, and ginseng is not considered safe for small children. This is a great product for feeling energized and believe it or not sleeping better. I was taught by one of my teachers that it is good to avoid taking ginseng the first day of getting a cold or flu, since it will strengthen pathogens, but taking the on the third day is great for enrgizing the body and feeling better.
You can purchase ready made Ginseng Extract in little 10ml bottles or you can make your own at home like Bruce Lee did, it was one of his favorite herbal supplements. Below is a photo of a powerful Ginseng Tonic you can make.

Ginseng Tonic
To make this tonic all you need is red sliced Panax Ginseng root and some alcohol, Vodka or Gin work great. Just pound down the Ginseng into small pieces with a mortar and pestle add that in a glass bottle and pour in your alcohol, then shake as often as possible for 5-7 days.
Pictured below is the Sliced Red Panax Ginseng Root.

Sliced Red Panax Ginseng Root
High quality Red Sliced Panax Ginseng generally sells for $9.99 a ounce and a good ratio is about a ounce and a half combined with about 6 ounces of alcohol. that equates out to 42.5 grams of Ginseng or 42,500 milligrams per batch and almost 7100 mg per ounce. One teaspoon is approx 1180 mg of pure Ginseng Tonic Extract. If you are sensitive to alcohol then just boil a small amount of water and then pour the water in a small cup and then add the tonic, the hot water will burn off the alcohol and you have a alcohol free dose.
Royal Jelly
Royal jelly, which is sometimes called bee’s milk, is a thick creamy liquid secreted by special glands in young worker bees who serve as “nurses” to the hive. All bee larvae are fed a small amount of royal jelly mixed with honey for the first three days of their lives.
Starting on day four, however, most of the bees are weaned from this diet and develop into worker bees. But one bee, hatched from an egg identical to the rest, is fed exclusively on royal jelly, that bee becomes the queen.
She will grow, on average, 40% larger than her fellow bees, perhaps 50% heavier, and live up to 40 or 50 times as long. And all the while, she will be producing enormous numbers of eggs, equal to more than twice her own body weight, every single day.
This phenomenon has led numerous researchers and practitioners to explore both the chemical composition and the potential therapeutic uses of royal jelly, particularly over the last several decades. Among other things, the complex substance has been found to be rich in amino acids (including the eight essential to human life), essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, RNA, DNA, and many other elements of clinically proven usefulness, it essentially contains the building blocks of life.
.
General use
Proponents of apitherapy (which also includes the use of other hive products, such as bee pollen, propolis, and bee venom) make many claims for the virtues of royal jelly. Among other things, it is said to increase appetite and general vigor; retard aging; boost longevity; accelerate healing; strengthen the immune system; and exhibit antibiotic and antiviral properties. Specific claims for royal jelly have been made in connection with
Parkinson’s disease and other nervous disorders; arthritis; and reproductive and sexual functioning.
Clinical studies over the last several decades have reported evidence supporting some of these claims, including shrinking tumors in mice, reducing cholesterol levels in humans, fighting microbial and viral infections, and reducing the trembling associated with Parkinson’s disease. These accounts are case reports only, however, and not the results of controlled clinical trials.
Preparations
Royal jelly may be purchased in a freeze-dried form in capsules or tablets, sometimes combined with other bee products; it is also available as a liquid in small vials as pictured below. In addition, royal jelly may appear as an ingredient in cosmetics, skin care products Jafra cosmetics uses it in a lot of their products, and assorted ointments and salves.
Synthetic royal jelly has also been manufactured and marketed, but according to some sources, it does not produce the same effects, on either bees or human subjects, in clinical trials.
Precautions
If you are allergic to Bees it is best to avoid taking Royal Jelly in case of possible anaphylactic shock. Do not take during pregnancy and not to be given to small children.
I had the pleasure of meeting Shannon Lee, who if you did not know is the daughter of Bruce Lee at the Natural Products Expo. She explained to me the Bruce Lee foundation authorized the formation of a new company called Bruce Tea and the production and sale of a tea based on her dads writing in his journal. Bruce used to make a tea for energy and his immune system, this tea consisted of Ginseng, Royal Jelly, Green Tea . the new tea is called JKD.
Coming this summer will be a 2nd tea called Tao which will be for focus and mental clarity. I was able to sample both teas and they are very good and should sell very well.
Bruce Lee used these herbs to help develop his strength, stamina and immune system and so can you. You can purchase these herbs in a concentrated liquid extract, drinking one small vial a day is all you need to feel a difference. It is really hard to find a better way to energize your body and build up your immunity but of course you are free to choose.
I take the 3 extracts you mention and love the ginseng the best, a little strong at first but you get used to it quickly.
I WOULD LOVE TO TRY YOUR PRODUCTS. He was so energetic and healthy.I would love to be the same
Nice Information, thanks.
