Conversion Facts
When preparing any liniment we sometimes need conversion facts especially when most of the world uses metric measurements and here in the United States we do not.
Typically most Dit Da Jow liniment kits sold today will produce one gallon of liniment but the alcohol needed is sold in metric. The same goes for your glass jar some are sold in gallon sizes other in liters.
Below is a quick reference guide for you to use when preparing your Jow.
One ounce is 29.57 ml
One cup (8oz) is 236.56 ml
750 ml is 25.3575 ounces
One US Gallon is 128 ounces or 3.785 liters or 3785 ml
144 ounces is 4.25 liters
One liter is 33.81 ounces
1.75 liters is 59.1675 ounces or 1750 ml
5 liters is 1.321 gallons or 169.05 ounces
7 liters is 1.8494 gallons or 236.67 ounces
8 liters is 2.11 gallons
One pound is 453.6 grams
One ounce is 28.35 grams
One kilogram is 2.205 pounds or 1000 grams
When purchasing Vodka for example to prepare your kits, you will find the most popular sizes are 750ml and 1.75 liter. We generally need two 1.75 liter bottles to start so with the reference above we know two bottles equates out to 118.335 ounces. This is important to know if you are keeping precise details for a label or journal.
I always keep track of exactly how much alcohol is used and of course the date of preparation. I print his on a label and attach it to the jar, this way I know how long it has been macerating and how much alcohol I used.
Some people are comfortable with using ounces so the above conversion facts will allow you to convert ml or liters into ounces. Some of our larger kits like the Tie Ba Zhang Jow need a large jar like a 2 gallon or 7 liter jar and more alcohol is needed for this kit, just write down whatever alcohol you ad to your jar convert it to ounces and print it on a label or write it down in a journal if you like to keep track of what you used to prepare your kit.

Here are two Tie Ba Zhang Iron Hand Jow kits in a 2.5 gallon jar as mentioned above. Picture courtesy of great customer in the state of Texas.
The photo above as mentioned is our Tie Ba Zhang Jow Kit, the customer who sent this in added two kits in one jar but wanted it extra concentrated and he used only 233 ounces of alcohol, using the conversion facts above just multiply 233 and 29.57 (ml’s in one ounce) and you have 6889.81 just round it up and you have 6890 ml or 6.89 liters. Looking at the conversion facts 6.89 liters is close to 7 liters which is 1.8494 gallons, so our customer used 233 ounces or 6.89 liter and close to 1.84 gallons.
This kit normally uses 4.25 liters of alcohol, so two kits would bring that to 8.5 liters or a little over 2 gallons so the Jow pictured above will be quite concentrated and powerful.
I hope these conversion facts are helpful to you when preparing the wide variety of liniment kits sold today. We recommend you read this article on the best alcohol you should use when preparing your kits.
