How To Apply Dit Da Jow or Iron Palm Liniment
A question we get once in awhile and one we take for granted that most people know is how to apply Dit Da Jow or Iron Palm Liniment. Nothing should be taken for granted and it is a good question, their are several ways and we will go over some of the most popular ways.
Applying Dit Da Jow And Iron Palm Liniment
For a injury or sore muscles and joints just rub on a small amount of liniment to saturate the area you are applying it to and rub it in with your hands.
You want to apply enough liniment so the area is wet but not dripping or running all over.
If you made your own kit and used Vodka as the medium for extraction then the 40% alcohol is a good percentage for evaporation. If the percentage is to high then the alcohol evaporates to fast not allowing the liniment to be absorbed in the skin.
If you are training Iron Palm then apply enough as mentioned above to your hands before and after training.
The ancient masters always suggested to rub in a outward direction toward the tips of the fingers if you are applying on your hands or toward your toes if you are applying on your legs or feet. The ancient masters felt the flow of energy moved toward the end of the extremities and returned back and down the body and applying this way helped speed up the healing process.
A general rule of thumb is to use the Dit Da Jow for bruises, trauma type injuries, sore muscles etc. Use the Iron Palm to strengthen or heal injuries to bones, tendons, ligaments etc. Of course apply the Iron Palm Liniment to any part of the body that you train where there is contact, such as hitting a heavy bag or Iron Palm Bag, etc.
Sometimes you might use both separately, if so apply the Iron Palm liniment first wait a minute then apply the Dit Da Jow.
One of our good customers came up with a good idea and we searched until we found a leach free Glass Roll On Applicator. Pictured below, these applicators do a great job of applying just enough liniment to specific areas without any mess.

These leach free applicators are a great way to apply your Dit Da Jow or Iron Palm Liniments.
Other methods of application are cotton balls, cotton gauze or a paper towel folded in half several times. There is nothing written in stone on what to use the important point is to get it on the injured area as quickly as possible.
The Dit Da Jow is on the left and the Iron Palm is on the right, this is a very convenient to take with you in your gym bag or purse and very easy to clean. The leach free top just pops off for cleaning or refilling.
You can also mix the two together to make a super Jow that helps with serious aches and pains. When mixing a 50/50 combo just use the liquid, but if some herbs get in the mix that is no problem.
Apply as often as necessary for your needs, if you need to apply once an hour then go for it.
Some customers have asked “can I dip my hands in the jar and let them soak for minute”, I personally do not think this is necessary and probably is a waste of Jow as you do not need that much.
One of our longtime customers uses this method that she likes and in her words: “I use a glass 22-400 dropper cap to control how much liniment I apply. I buy your ready-made liniments and the dropper caps separately. I put a few drops in the palm of my hand and rub it on to the injured area”.
If you need to soak a injured area for long period of time soak a small piece of cheesecloth with your Jow and wrap or apply to the injured area, a piece of saran wrap can also be used to secure in place and force the Jow to be absorbed into the injured area. We have a page dedicated to using Dit Da Jow as A compress, click this sentence to read.
You can use either of our Authentic Dit Da Jow or Iron Palm Liniments on non bleeding cuts, scrapes, abrasions, etc without any problems. To read more about this read our article “Can Dit Da Jow Be Used On Cuts?”
During the winter months and if you are using either liniment a lot it would be a good idea to occasionally rub some oil into the skin to keep your skin hydrated as the dry air and alcohol can dry out your skin.Read more about this on our page regarding dry skin. Also read our page on Dermatitis.
If you used your hands for application, wash them when are finished. If your hands received the application wait at least 30 minutes then wash if necessary. A lot of times the liniment is applied to the back of the hand which enables you to rinse your palms carefully after application.
