Ku Yu Cheung Iron Palm-Dit Da Jow Liniment
Ku Yu Cheung Iron Palm Master
Ku Yu Cheung (1894–1952)Gu Ruzhang in Mandarin was one of the most accomplished and famous Iron Palm Masters who ever lived. Unknown to most people was that he was a accomplished Kung Fu fighter and master of Taichi Boxing.
According to books he published and other manuscripts, he preferred to use a unique Iron Palm/Dit Da Jow liniment that consisted of 25 herbs, there are some publications that say 27 but according to his writings and writings of others it seems a 25 herb formula was what he preferred.
What was unique about this formula is about half of the formula would be considered Iron Palm ( hand conditioning) and the other half Dit Da Jow (Qi Movement). This combination formula along with his training created a very powerful Qi flow to his hands. Ku Yu Cheung credited his Qi power he developed as the reason he could break a stack of bricks with what seemed like little effort.
Besides his famous Iron Palm demonstrations Ku Yu Chueng was a great fighter using the Northern Shaolin style of Kung Fu called Bak Siu Lahm he was a 7th generation student and fought in the famous Lei Tai fights.
If you think MMA or the UFC is tough it was nothing compared to the Lei Tai Fights. Lei Tai translated means fighting platform, where two men would match there skills on basically a elevated 24 foot square wooden deck. Fighters would lose if they surrendered, were incapacitated, were thrown or otherwise forced from the stage. The winner would remain on the stage (as its “owner”) unless ousted by a stronger opponent. If there were no more challengers, they would become the champion. Private duels on the stage had no rules and were sometimes fought to the death. Hundreds of the best Kung Fu fighters and Masters competed in in this event
In 1928 Ku Lu Chueng fought and placed 15th in this tournament, what was crazy about this tournament was when it got down to the final 12 the tournament was stopped because two great Masters were killed and several others were seriously injured, so to prevent the possibility of more Masters getting killed off they stopped the tournament and a jury of their peers voted on who the winner would be.
Out of the top 15, five fighters were selected to teach at the Southern Kuoshu Institute which was part of the governments military. Ku Yu Cheung was one one of the five selected and those five were called Wu Hu Xia Jiangnan or Five Tigers Heading South.
Ku Yu Cheung had already developed his Iron Palm and Iron Body techniques with his Qi development and as the story goes he met a Russian circus owner who said no man could withstand 3 kicks from his horse which supposedly had already killed several people and offered a prize to the man who could withstand the 3 kicks, Ku Yu Cheung accepted his challenge with the proviso that he could slap the horse on the back if he could withstand the three kicks and also he would not accept the prize money. The horse kicked him 3 times and using his Iron Body breathing techniques he suffered no injuries whatsoever. He then asked to see the horse up close as agreed upon and then he slapped the horse on the back with the palm of his hand, the horse reared up, cried out and then died. When they autopsied the horse it was noted that all the internal organs had been ruptured some stories even say they dissolved.
Ku Yu Cheung’s Iron Palm Dit Da Jow Liniment
Ku Yu Cheung supposedly soaked his entire hand in his liniment before and after training to create a greater qi flow and followed the same ritual before breaking bricks or other Iron Palm demonstrations.
One thing that is for sure is the herbs he used in his liniment were consistent with the herbs used in the Shaolin Temple for trauma related conditions but was put together like a hybrid liniment for Iron Palm conditioning and the strengthening of his bones and tendons and the movement and healing power of Qi like Dit Da Jow.
Similar to Yin and Yang, the formula is well balanced in its nature. Ku Yu Cheung was big believer in Yin and Yang in his martial arts practice thus his mastery in the external and internal arts.
There are several stories circulating regarding his death in 1952, some say he was shot by the soldiers during the Cultural Revolution but that is incorrect since the cultural Revolution took pace between 1966 and 1976. Others say he died malnourished and others say he died from a heart ailment. One thing that is certain is Ku Yu Cheung grew tired of teaching martial arts around 1940 and more or less dropped out of sight.
The only deviation from the original formula is Hu Gu(Tiger Bone) which is illegal to sell in most parts of the world, in place of that we use Long Gu(Dragon Bone).
This is a large kit and is only available in the USA at the moment and for a limited time with Free Shipping and Handling USA residents only. Due to the size of the kit a large glass jar is needed, see below. Due To Customs Regulations In Most Countries We Cannot Ship Outside Of The USA! Email us if you live outside of the USA and we will check and see if your customs allows entry.
Each kit is made per order fresh, meticulously prepared and is not sitting around. While you are waiting for your kit to arrive you will need a GLASS jar with a air tight lid that is 5 Liters or larger in size. You will also and at least 4 liters of Vodka or Gin 40% 80 proof for this kit. If you have access to 40% Alc/80 Proof Rice Wine, that will work also. Other types of alcohol like grain, everclear, denatured that are above 75% alcohol will not work properly by themselves and must be diluted down with distilled water.
We have a method where you can mix Everclear and Vodka but it has to be done a certain way so you do not exceed 55% alcohol, you can read more and watch a video on this preparation if you are interested.
Order below if you truly practice Authentic Iron Palm and are a hardcore practitioner otherwise this liniment is not for you. This is not for the weekend warrior or part time practitioner. This formula brings a lot of Qi to the hands and you must have the proper training and techniques to use it.
If you practice some other type of hand training or hard contact type hand training email us first to see if this would benefit you. If you apply this liniment to your hands and do not release the Qi generated by the liniment you can develop Qi obstruction issues. so it is important to train Iron Palm or Iron Body when using this liniment.
Shipping is via Priority Mail and generally takes 2 days to arrive once it has been shipped. We will notify you when we receive your order and let you know when it has shipped.

Special Preparation Instructions for Ku Yu Chueng Iron Palm Dit Da Jow Liniment
Below is a step by step guide for preparing the full size of this unique liniment
What You Will Need
Glass Jar 5 liters or larger in size
Vodka 40% Alc 80 proof 2 – 1.75 liter bottles and 1– 750ml bottle or
Everclear 75.5% Alc 151 proof 2—750ml bottles and 2 – 1.75 liter bottles of Vodka 40% Alc 80 Proof
A measuring cup that shows ounces
A pen or pencil and a magic marker
Using Everclear and Vodka will make your liniment a little stronger but of course costs a little more dollar wise. Using Vodka alone is fine but takes a little longer to extract some of the molecular compounds from several of the herbs.
This kit will produce 144 ounces of a very powerful liniment , if you can only find a gallon size jar which is 128 ounces you will essentially be making only 100 ounces after some space or volume is taken up by the herbs, in other words after adding the herbs there is less space for alcohol.
So finding a large jar that is 5 liters (169 oz) or larger is to your benefit. You will also notice after a day or so after you prepare your liniment the level of the liquid will be less, that is from the herbs absorbing some of the alcohol like a sponge.
Getting Started Using a 5 Liter Jar
1) Make sure you have enough space to work, your kit is double wrapped so open and lay flat the outer wrapping and then carefully open your kit on top of the flat outer wrapping.
2) Have your jar ready and lift up your kit off of the wrapping and place your jar in the center of the wrapping, add your herbs into the jar. If any herbs fall they will land on your flat wrapping and you can add them into your jar.
3) If you are using Everclear add your first bottle, then add your second. Now add your first bottle of Vodka. Now get your measuring cup and pour 8 ounces of vodka into the cup then add into the jar. You now have approx 118 ounces of alcohol in the jar.
4) Depending on the size of your jar you will add more Vodka 4 ounces at a time. The goal is to fill the jar but leave 2-3” from the top but still not exceed 144 ounces of alcohol. If you are using a two gallon jar then you will have no problem adding the 144 ounces of alcohol.
Use your measuring cup to maintain accuracy, it is a good idea to write down how much alcohol you used for future reference.
5) When you have added all the alcohol that you can while leaving space at the top of the jar make a mark at the liquid level line with your magic marker, in a few days check and see if the level line as changed, if it has add alcohol back to the magic marker line.
To produce the smaller kit you just need half of the above mentioned materials and prepare the same way.
6) We need space at the top so we have room for the herbs to move around when we shake the jar, this is important.
Shaking Your Jar
Shaking the jar is important because that is what extracts all the alkaloidal constituents and molecular compounds from the herbs. This is what creates the healing power of your liniment in a short period of time. Centuries ago the ancients buried clay pots filled with herbs and rice wine in the ground and waited years to unearth and use. We do not have the time or patience to do that, so shake the jar as often as you can everyday for the first 4 weeks, 6 weeks if you have the patience to wait. Shake for at least 2 minutes two times a day if your schedule allows.
After the 4 to 6 week period shake once or twice a week for a couple of minutes, if you can shake more often, more power to you. This will create a stronger liniment.
Storing Your Jar
It is important to store your jar in a dark place, it must be out of the sun and must not be in a area with excessive heat like next to the hot water heater or furnace. Under a cabinet or in the closet are two popular spots. Obviously it must be a place that is easily accessible since you will be shaking it often in the beginning and weekly later on.
What Do I Do With The Herbs After All Is Done?
Actually you are never done, since the herbs never extract 100%, that is why the liniment becomes stronger the longer it sits, so never take out the herbs, leave them in the jar.
When Can I Use My Liniment?
After the 4-6 week period you can if you wish take out 6-10 ounces of liniment and place in a small glass jar for training purposes. Take out only what you need for training purposes or sharing, leave the bulk in the jar so it becomes stronger by sitting and shaking.
Can I Reuse The Herbs?
Yes, when you have pretty much used all your liniment and your jar is large enough you can add another fresh kit in with the existing herbs and follow the same steps as you did initially. You will not use the same amount of alcohol but you will have one incredibly powerful liniment that will be even stronger than the first batch.I usually do this only one time then I start from scratch on the 3rd batch. You can also use a fruit or wine press and squeeze out all the liniment then toss out the herbs.
Below is a link to a Youtube video explaining more about the advanced preparation process.
I have been using your Ku Yu Cheung liniment for over a year and it has helped me in my breaking power tremendously. I followed your instructions 3 years ago and started training with rice, then mung beans, then pea gravel, after each one was pulverized I went to the next one in progression. Now for the last year with this liniment i have been training with the black iron beads, it is like hitting a steel block.
My question is should I continue with this liniment or is there a stronger liniment I should progress to? My main goal is to enter breaking competition in Asia.
Send us an email and we can discuss some options, the Ku Yu Cheung is one of the best liniment kits for what you are training for but we have a couple of options to help you get to the next level you wish to achieve.
