Triple Soak Method Instructions

The Triple Soak Method is a great way to extract your Dit Da Jow or Iron Palm liniment in a shorter period of time while still maintaining a very powerful liniment, it takes a little extra work but the end result is amazing.

For the Tie Ba Zhang Jow and other powerful Dit Da Jow and Iron Palm liniments and we recommend using Everclear diluted down to 58% alcohol which can be accomplished by adding Everclear and water, depending on the state you live in, you can purchase 190 proof or 151 proof. Below are ratios of Everclear and water to achieve 58% alcohol and 144 total ounces of solvent.
190 proof 2.60 liters(88oz) Everclear and 1.65 liters(56oz) water
151 proof 3.30 liters(111oz) Everclear and .96 liters(32.5oz) water

Step One
Mix your Everclear and water with the ratios above, we will refer to this as the solvent from now on. You can store your mixed solvent in the bottles of the Everclear or any other bottle(s).
You will need a couple of extra jars that are at least 1.75 liters (59 oz) in size or larger. The first step is to add your herbs( both packets) in the big jar and add 1.4 liters(47 oz) of solvent, after it is added to the herbs it is called the Menstruum. Seal up the jar and shake twice daily for 7 days, for about 2 minutes each time. The solvent obviously will not cover the herbs, this fine, shake as described above.

Step Two
After the seventh day pour ONLY the Menstruum from the big jar into your smaller jar. You will not get the full 1.4 liters out because the herbs will have absorbed some of the alcohol. (First Soak)
Get what you can and then seal up the jar and place it in a dark cool location.
Repeat step one adding 1.4 liters of solvent into the big jar, seal it up and shake for 7 days. After 7 days pour your Menstruum into your small jar from step one. (Second Soak) Tuck that jar away in a dark cool place. If you do not have enough room in the jar for the second pour use an additional jar or glass bottle.
The next step is important but you must be careful, you need to heat up the remaining solvent so it is warm to hot anywhere from 85-100 degrees is good.
Step Three
The easiest way to do this is to pour your remaining solvent in your 1.75 liter jar, seal it up and place in a water bath. A water bath is just a pan or pot of water that is being heated up on the stove and then a jar or other type container is placed inside and then is warmed up by the heated water. USE SAFETY GOGGLES AND GLOVES FOR THE NEXT STEP!
Heat up your jar of solvent until it gets warm to the touch or by using a thermometer (90-100 degrees Fahrenheit ) then while the solvent is warm pour it into the big jar with the herbs. Seal up the jar and shake vigorously for a couple of minutes.
Step Four
The last step is to shake twice daily for 7 days. After the seventh day you can pour the contents of the first jar that you tucked away into the big jar with the herbs. (Third Soak). Your Jow is ready to use, You can take a little out, 4-6 oz and place in a small glass jar for personal, but we still recommend you shake the jar daily for a minute or two for the next week and after that shake once or twice a week if possible for the next month. After two months, shake your jar once or twice a month for a minute or two.
What you have done is called a triple maceration. By removing the solvent after seven days then adding fresh new solvent you have sped up the extraction process.

When molecular compounds from the herbs are added to the solvent, the solvent slows down in its ability to absorb the compounds. Adding fresh solvent starts the extraction process up again at full speed allowing the solvent to absorb more compounds at normal or faster speed. The last soak with the heated up solvent insures a thorough extraction.
One great analogy I heard was compare it to cleaning dye (molecular compounds/alkaloidal constituents) out of a shirt (herbs) with water (menstruum). Macerating is putting the dyed shirt into a jar of water and leaving it. A certain amount of dye will come out, but as soon as it comes out of the shirt, it’s in your water and lessens the drawing power of the water for the rest of the dye. On the other hand, by running clean water over the shirt, you can potentially get the shirt cleaner, almost like using the rinse cycles on your washing machine. So we essentially are doing the same thing as we add new solvent each time.

The Most Important Key To Strong Dit Da Jow

The most important key of making a strong Dit Da Jow in a short period of time is agitation or shaking the jar. Without it you will never pull all the compounds out of the herbs in a timely manner, the ancients did not worry about how long it took, they just buried the vessel and left it for a year or longer.
By following these more advanced methods for preparing your Jow you will save yourself at least 7 days if not more and have a stronger Jow in a shorter period of time.
If time is not an issue the standard maceration method will work the same, it will just take about a week or two longer but the end result will be the same.
