What do you do when you finish your Dit Da Jow or Iron Palm liniment and all that is left are the herbs in the jar? One method is squeezing the remaining herbs with a fruit or wine press. The remaining herbs which are called the dregs, contain a lot of liniment since they act like a sponge absorbing the liniment as it sits or during agitation. The longer your liniment sits the stronger it becomes so getting as much liniment from the dregs when you have exhausted all your liniment is to your benefit.

Using a fruit press, we squeezed the dregs and received a fair amount of some potent liniment, very thick and full of healing compounds.
This is a very effective way to get some very potent liniment. Once squeezed out, just store in some glass bottles out of any sunlight until you are ready to use.
Herbal Rinse
Another method that requires an extra jar is to add fresh alcohol into the jar with the dregs, usually two 1.75 liter bottles is sufficient. Once the alcohol is added, seal up the jar and shake for several minutes and do this for one or two days. What happens is the fresh alcohol displaces the liniment that has been absorbed by the herbs. Now after a day or two, longer if you wish, pour out only the alcohol into your spare jar. You can use a strainer if you wish to prevent any herbs from falling in your jar.
Now use this alcohol which contains quite a bit of molecular herbal compounds and constituents to prepare a new liniment kit. It has to be the same kit that you prepared originally. If you made the Authentic Dit Da Jow initially then it must be the same kit for the new preparation. Make sure you measure the amount of alcohol you used and add new alcohol to make up the difference in your new preparation.
You can take this technique even further if you have the time, just pour in one 1.75 liter bottle of vodka seal up the jar and shake well. Do this a couple of times a day for 2-3 days then as described above pour out the liquid into your spare jar. Now add your second 1.75 liter bottle of vodka and repeat.
Toss Out The Dregs
With either method you can throw the dregs away when you are finished, as you have pulled out the best of what was left in the herbs. If you are using a strainer you can fill the strainer up with herbs and with some light pressing extract out more liniment from the dregs, when finished toss them out, then keep repeating until all the herbs are gone.
We would be remiss if we did not mention that the dregs themselves could used as a powerful poultice for serious injuries. So some people keep a jar of the herbs from the exhausted batch and have them on hand for these situations. The dregs themselves never go bad dues to the alcohol so do not worry about them going bad.
