Rock Climbing Liniment

If you are looking for a great Rock Climbing Liniment you are on the right page. We have two popular liniments that will fit your needs. As you probably have experienced if you are an active rock climber is the abuse your hands can receive from bouldering or using a rope and anchoring system. But it is not just your hands, it also can be your elbows, wrists, toes, heels, knees and the list goes on.

We can categorize some injuries two ways, the first is:

Acute

Acute can be when tissue breaks, muscles get ripped, tendons rupture, bones splinter or joints dislocating. More often it is either a pulley or the tendon attachment of one of the small muscles in the palm (interossie and lumbrical muscles).

Second category is:

Chronic

This is when tissue breaks down over time and you are dealing with constant discomfort that just does not go away. Tenderness on the front or slightly to the side of the meaty bits of the finger, especially at the A2 pulley, is very common and strongly suggests chronic overload of the underlying pulley. As a general rule, if it is only sore to touch you are good to keep going at a moderately reduced intensity. If it is becoming sore to use the finger it is time to really back it up and have a close look at your training regime. Slow onset pain and swelling around the PIP (middle) joint of the finger, mostly in kids, is a stress fracture until proven otherwise.

What was the hold?

Often the hold that caused the injury is a strong indicator of what you may have damaged. Oddly shaped crimp configurations typically produce pulley tears and will be accompanied by a snapping noise. Pockets, due to some fingers being drawn into the palm while the loaded one are not, can tear small tendon attachments in the palm or tendon junctions in the forearm.

So protecting your hands is serious business, even if your are just training with a hangboard you can damage the tendons in your hand. Being Proactive is very important and using the proper liniment is one way of being that. But  what liniment should you use for either the acute or chronic situation?

Our most popular Rock Climbing Liniment is the Authentic Iron Palm Liniment. This powerful liniment helps heal bones, tendons, ligaments and other sinew. This liniment works both as a preventive and as a healer with pain relieving properties. This liniment is ideal for both of the above mentioned categories.

You can apply this Rock Climbing Liniment before training exercises or before you begin your actual climb, we recommend you apply before and after. The Authentic Iron Palm Liniment is 100 percent plant based and does not use any resinous herbs so it is not very sticky or cause friction.

New to this site and do not know what Iron Palm Liniment is?

Authentic Iron Palm Liniment also known as Shaolin Ying Da Li Tan Tieda Yao is an ancient Traditional Chinese Herbal formula originating close to a thousand years ago by the Shaolin Monks. Originally prepared to heal severe injuries from martial arts training Iron Palm liniment has become the go to liniment for a wide range of athletic activities like rock climbing where the hands are used quite extensively either for either gripping or punching.

Due to its unique blend of herbs working in a synergistic manner, it has amazing healing properties moving Qi and blood through the collaterals. This is the most effective way to heal injuries without oral or injectable drugs. Besides healing injuries, Iron Palm Liniment is a fabulous pain reliever allowing for more pain free movement of the injured area.

Osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis has been defined as degeneration of the joint surface known as either Hyaline or Synovial cartilage. Acute and chronic injury can speed up the onset of osteoarthritis, if however, you add a single serious injury—say, an anterior cruciate rupture (the ACL is one of the main stabilizing ligaments in the knee) you can most certainly count on earlier degeneration. For Rock Climbers this means snapping pulleys and ligaments around the fingers will probably lead to osteoarthritis so being proactive and using a high quality Rock Climbing Liniment is a wise choice. We need to also mention the ankles which also take a lot of abuse when climbing with all the twisting and weight bearing stress that occurs.

Shaolin Ying Da Li Tan Tieda Yao

As mentioned above our most popular Rock Climbing Liniment is the Shaolin Ying Da Li Tan Tieda Yao. We have this available as a kit so you can make over a gallon right in your home, this is very easy to do and is extremely economical. We also have it in bottled form that has aged over 47 months, this is more expensive but ideal if you do not want to make your own.

Eagle Claw Iron Hand Liniment

Our other popular liniment is the Eagle Claw Liniment, this is a modified Shaolin recipe that is based on the popular formula called Lin Jiu Hu Dan (Shaolin Nine Tigers). Eagle Claw Iron Hand Liniment is a blend of two properties, Iron Palm and Dit Da Jow, this liniment has some bone, tendon healing properties as well as blood stasis, blood stagnation dispersing properties that are associated with injuries from falls and strikes. Used in various Martial Art styles involving gripping, squeezing and gouging where hand strength is important and the possibility of hand trauma can occur e.g. contact training, striking objects repeatedly.

So this kit is great for trauma type injuries where blood stasis and blood stagnation occur like smashing your hand on a rock or boulder or falling down and suffering from bruising. In addition it helps with injuries to your joints, tendons and ligaments. This formula has several resinous herbs which makes this formula a little tacky after it is applied.

Eagle Claw Iron Hand Kit

Eagle Claw Iron Hand Liniment is a blend of plant, insect, mineral and resinous ingredients. So this is not a vegan type liniment like the Authentic Iron Palm formula. This formula does not contain Xie Ke which is crab shells due to the allergic reaction many people have with Crustacean type shellfish, reactions to crustacean shellfish tend to be particularly severe so it has been replaced with a plant based herb. Each kit will produce one gallon (3.78 liters) of liniment if your glass jar is large enough.
